Our History

IMUK2017 A

BroadMinds began life as the brainchild of me, Jonathan Broad. In 2012, I reached the conclusion that to improve the mental health of people it was necessary to change not only the way sufferers think & feel but the way society on the whole thinks about mental health. So I set about challenging myself, pushing myself to his limits as a means of raising funds for mental health charities & publicising mental health issues. I eventually persuaded many friends & family members to get involved & before I knew it he had an army of people championing the cause & raising awareness of these issues and trying to break down the taboo that often means people suffer in silence.

However, I soon realised that there was more I could do & started volunteering for mental health charities to work with people who were struggling in some way and had become isolated in society. Here is where I found my greatest passion, my true calling. I was soon studying to become a counsellor & psychotherapist and committed to directly helping the people I’d been working for years to support. BroadMinds Therapy eventually became a reality and the practice was established to deliver integrative counselling & psychotherapy with the aim of developing personalised therapy plans that are designed for each unique client rather than interpreting clients through the lens of any one particular theory.

What emerged is a service that balances human connection, professionalism and a package of evidence-based practices tailored for each individual I work with.
